NBW THE NEW BLACK WINE MALBEC 2014 Chateau Triguedina

Puntaje: 92,5

Score: 92.5

Deep plum-red in color with excellent concentration, showing only the faintest hint of development. Bright in appearance.

The nose shifts continuously in the glass, alternating between delicate smoky notes and ripe plums. Refined and intriguing, it evolves noticeably after only a few seconds of aeration.

The palate opens with an almost sweet impression, immediately balanced by vibrant acidity. Broad, fully rounded, finely textured tannins provide impressive structure. Hints of overripeness are joined by earthy mushroom notes and intense cedar cigar-box aromas. Full-bodied, with outstanding harmony between oak and fruit and a long, persistent finish.

The wine gives no indication of being nearly twelve years old.

Distinctive and unlike any other wine in the tasting, its oak profile and opening aromas recalled the style of some of Argentina’s early post-reconversion Malbecs.

One-third of the hand-harvested grape clusters are placed on drying racks and warmed overnight in a prune-drying kiln. The remaining two-thirds are harvested the following day, and all the fruit is then vinified together.
